New year, new features! We are excited to announce the general availability of the Viva Goals Power BI integration and three new Metrics features specifically answering common customer asks. A new, optional column for milestones, scorecard time zones, and a handy auto collapse / auto expand feature. Let’s take a look. Next milestone column: In the last few months, we released a feature that allows you to add multiple milestones to a metric. Previously, we showed either the final target or the next milestone in the scorecard, depending on the user selection. With this new release, users can show an entire column dedicated to showing the next milestone, as well as the final target if they choose. You can access these options in the column view settings shown below. You can also use the toggle to show a combined current/target value as the progress column or opt to separate the values into a current and target column. Today we’re announcing three new capabilities that are starting to roll out, and a hint about things to look forward to in the coming weeks.   Rich preview cards for Chat in Teams We’re committed to helping users communicate insights faster. The Chat in Teams experience is getting better because we’re updating Chat in Teams links to be easier to read, shorter, and to show rich preview cards. When you use Chat in Teams for a report or from a visual, you’ll notice the link now looks like a regular Power BI link, not a Microsoft Teams link. The link is still a deep link that takes users directly to the exact data they selected on the specific page of a report. Clicking the link opens the report in a browser window. We are excited to announce the public preview of Power BI Dataset Scale-Out, a dataset feature enabling enterprise customers to support large-scale Power BI solutions without any additional administrative overhead or infrastructure complexity. The idea is to let Power BI scale the number of dataset replicas and load-balance client connections dynamically to meet query processing demands at critical times up to the maximum available compute resources (vCores) of the underlying Premium capacity. During low-demand times, Power BI can automatically scale back to decrease the number of replicas again. In this way, enterprise customers can easily handle demand peaks in a cost-efficient and worry-free way and maximize their return on investment (ROI) in Power BI Premium compute resources. Moreover, Power BI Dataset Scale-Out improves data refresh scenarios through refresh isolation in which a separate read-write replica of the dataset is refreshed without disrupting users.
